Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about licensing, pricing, and engineering services.

How much do casting simulation services cost?

For standard requests, we offer fixed-price packages. Subsequent runs apply when optimizing the same model geometry.

Package First run Subsequent runs
Solidification Only EUR 600 EUR 300
Flow and Solidification EUR 740 EUR 370
Full Cycle (Flow, Solidification, Stress) EUR 1140 EUR 570

Please note: Pricing is valid for Sand, Investment, and Lost Foam casting. Die casting, vacuum casting, and special processes require a custom quote.

See service details

What is included in the fixed-price service packages?

The fixed-price packages cover simulation execution and defect mapping according to the agreed scope.

  • Engineering analysis and simulation run(s) using PoligonSoft
  • Defect maps and key result fields relevant to the selected package
  • Report, videos, and 3D visualization results

Excluded: Engineering consulting and recommendations for defect correction are quoted separately.

If you already have a pre-configured PoligonSoft project, you can also request "Calculation Only (Your Setup)" without engineering review.

How does the process and payment work for simulation services?

Our workflow is designed to be simple and transparent.

  1. Inquiry and NDA: We can sign an NDA upon request before you share any files.
  2. Data and quote: You upload your 3D model and parameters, and we provide a quote based on complexity.
  3. Simulation: Our engineers perform the work according to the agreed scope.
  4. Completion and payment: We notify you when the simulation is successfully completed. Results are ready for delivery immediately upon payment confirmation.

Typical turnaround: 3-7 business days, depending on project complexity.

When does it make sense to buy a license instead of using services?

Simulation services are typically best when you have occasional projects, want fast expert execution, or do not want to invest in in-house infrastructure and training.

A commercial license is typically best when you need frequent iterations, daily production workflows, or want to build internal simulation expertise.

Many teams start with the free version and engineering services to validate value, then move to an annual subscription or a perpetual license when simulation becomes a regular workflow.

See licensing options

Do you offer a free version or a trial?

Yes. PoligonSoft FREE is a permanently free edition that lets you run solidification-based simulations and predict shrinkage defects on models up to 500,000 mesh elements.

The free edition uses the same core algorithms as the commercial suite, but it is limited in scope and model size.

In addition, a time-limited evaluation license for the full commercial version may be granted to companies whose engineers already have relevant experience with PoligonSoft or other casting-simulation systems.

What are Prime, Basic, and Ultra, and how much do they cost?

PoligonSoft is available in multiple variants. Prices below are starting points and can vary depending on license type and selected modules.

Variant Focus Starting price
Prime Model preparation and basic solidification and porosity simulation (up to 500,000 polygons) Free
Basic Solidification process simulation and shrinkage prediction (no mesh size limitations) from EUR 12,240 per year
Ultra Advanced simulation of flow, solidification, and stress from EUR 15,840 per year

Is PoligonSoft modular? Can I add modules later?

Yes. PoligonSoft is supplied through a modular system, so you can select only the modules you need and extend later as your workflow grows.

Important: The Fourier module (solidification, shrinkage, macro and microporosity) is mandatory because it contains the base algorithm required for simulations. Other modules are optional and can be added as needed.

Optional modules commonly added include flow, stress, radiation, centrifugal casting, criteria tools, and more, depending on your processes.

What are PoligonSoft's free modules included with a commercial license?

Along with any commercial license, these modules are included:

  • Mesh: Create 3D meshes from solid models
  • Master: Set up simulation parameters
  • Mirage: Visualize and analyze results

These modules can be installed on any computer and do not require a license to operate. The commercial license is only required to run calculations.

What is the difference between Individual and Network licenses?

Individual licenses allow calculations on a single device only, and the license cannot be transferred to another computer.

Network licenses allow simulations on any device connected to the local network. A license server controls the number of active copies to match the number of purchased licenses.

Network licenses can also be temporarily transferred to devices that are disconnected from the network, which helps with remote work or business trips.

Do you offer annual subscriptions, perpetual licenses, or installment plans?

Yes, PoligonSoft offers:

  • Annual subscriptions: Updates and technical support are available while the subscription is active. When the period ends, the software stops functioning.
  • Perpetual licenses: You can use the software indefinitely without additional payments. Updates and technical support are included for the first year, and then require a fee to continue.
  • Installment plan: Divide the cost over up to 3 years to acquire a perpetual license. During the installment period, the license is treated as an annual subscription. After the final payment, it becomes perpetual.

If installment payments are not completed, the perpetual license is forfeited and the subscription is canceled.

How can I contact PoligonSoft technical support?

You can contact technical support by email at support@poligoncast.com or by using the contact form on the website.

To speed up assistance, include your license number, PoligonSoft version, and a clear description of the issue (screenshots or files if relevant).

Is technical support available in multiple languages?

Yes. Technical support is available in English, Spanish, and Russian. You can specify your preferred language when contacting support.

What does technical support include, and what happens if support expires?

Technical support includes installation and setup help, troubleshooting program issues, license activation and management, and basic guidance on using modules and features.

Support does not include advanced personalized training, building simulations for your projects, on-site visits, or consulting about your production process.

If your license no longer includes support, you can continue using PoligonSoft without restrictions on existing features, but you will not have access to updates or assistance with technical issues. You can restore access by purchasing an additional support plan.

Technical support and updates are free for all active licenses. Perpetual licenses include support and updates for the first year.

What training options are available?

PoligonSoft offers several training formats:

  • Video course: Free, self-paced training available on the website
  • Online training: Instructor-led sessions via video conferencing (4 days)
  • On-site training: Specialist visit to your facility (minimum 3 days)

Open the video course

Is training included with a license purchase?

Training is not automatically included with a license. The video course is free, and online or on-site training can be purchased separately.

Online training for a group of up to 4 people is included with the purchase of a perpetual license.

What topics are covered in the basic training course?

The basic course typically covers the full workflow from model preparation to result analysis:

  • 3D model requirements and data needed for accurate simulations
  • Finite element mesh creation in the mesh generator
  • Automatic and manual mesh correction tools
  • Main simulation parameter setup in the Master module
  • Templates: creating, saving, and using them in daily work
  • Mold filling setup (Euler solver)
  • Solidification setup (Fourier solver)
  • Stress and deformation setup (Hooke solver)
  • Result analysis in the Mirage module

The basic course does not include specialized tools for vacuum, centrifugal, and continuous casting, and it does not cover the macrostructure or heat treatment module. These topics can be added for an additional cost.

What level of prior knowledge is recommended for training?

It is recommended to have basic knowledge of casting process simulation and familiarity with 3D modeling software. You do not need to be an expert, but prior experience will make learning faster and easier.
